Kensington residents will take a short walk today at 2:00pm to enjoy the Railroad Museum located nearby at 211 S. Seminary St. next door to the Railroad Station. The museum is filled with items from the glory days of rail travel. September 3, 2017-Join us each Sunday afternoon for a movie, friends and snacks. This week “Lord of the Rings” playing at 2:00pm in our Terrace Room. September 4, 2017-Not only is it Labor Day but we will be holding our first of 8 sessions of the Matter of Balance classes today at 9:00am. There is still time to register to attend, simply join us on the 2nd floor of The Kensington in the Terrace Room. Classes will meet every Monday and Thursday at 9:00am during the month of September. September 5, 2017-Join our residents as we visit local veterans the first Tuesday each month for donuts and coffee at the Michigan Street VFW at 8am. Not only do we enjoy seeing our friends each month but the building is home to a wonderful collection of memorabilia from past wars and conflicts dating back to the War of 1812. Then at 2:00pm we will gather in the Main Dining Room at the Kensington for “Malts” followed by sing-a-long at 2:30pm in our Activity Room. September 6, 2017-We will be viewing bi-planes at the annual Stearman Fly-in this morning at 9:30am. Residents look forward to this event annually taking a tram ride to get up close to these work horse planes from an era gone by. We will be hitting the isles of Wal-Mart today at 1:30pm for our weekly shopping trip. September 7, 2016-You still have time to join us at 9:00am for the 2nd Matter of Balance class held in our Terrace Room. At 3:00pm residents will meet in the Activity Room for sculpting with clay. September 8, 2017-Residents will picnic at Lincoln Park today; lunch begins at 11:30am, you can be a part of the fun and join us for a picnic in the pavilion closest to Rt. 150. September 11, 2017- We will take a moment today on Patriot Day to remember the events of 9/11 at our noon meal, but we begin our day with the 3rd Matter of Balance Class beginning at 9:00am in the Terrace Room. “Happy Hour” today between 4:00pm and 5:00pm in the Garden Room, stop by and join us, it’s a great way to finish out your day! September 12, 2017-You scream, I scream we all are screaming for butter pecan ice cream today at 2:00pm in the Main Dining Room. We will be singing in the Activity Room at 2:45pm we have a great mix of voices led by our own resident Jim T. September 13, 2017-Hy-Vee at 1:30pm for shopping then back to The Kensington for a game of Scrabble at 2:30pm. September 14, 2017-Half way through our Matter of Balance Classes with our 4th class at 9:00am in our Terrace Room, at 2:00pm Chelsea from Vitas Healthcare will present information on “fall prevention” as we look at the effects of falling during Fall Prevention Month. September 14, 2017 – Today we will be visiting O.A.K.s for lunch and bingo. We always enjoy the company and food when we visit here. Everyone is a winner when we enjoy some fun BINGO. September 15, 2017-Today’s speaker is Connie Krowl who will be discussing Gordon Behrents, at our monthly Lunch and Learn. We invite the public to join us each month for this free event; lunch beginning at 11:30am with the speaker’s presentation at 12:00pm. At 2:30pm Deb from Clear Sound Hearing will be in the Terrace Room for a conversation on how good hearing helps prevent falls, she will then have open appointments for ear checks. September 16, 2017-Chair massage at 1pm today thanks to our friend Rhonda Landon member of the Pain Relief Clinic who volunteers her services for our residents. Also at 1:00pm we will take a trip to the Galesburg Public Library for reading material. September 17, 2017-2:00pm movie playing in the Terrace Room “That’s Entertainment”. September 18, 2017- 9:00am Matter of Balance class in our Terrace Room. Karen from Hospice Compassus will visit us at 2:30pm as part of our Activity Aging week programing. September 26, 2017-Join our group at 9:30am in the Terrace Room for an in-depth look at passages from the Bible, this group meets monthly on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays. At 2:00pm we will celebrate September Birthdays with ice cream and cake join in the fun and be a part of the celebration in the Main Dining Room.
